The Benefits You're Entitled To
Workers' compensation systems in Tennessee and other states have been designed to protect both injured workers and employers. Unfortunately, the systems haven't been designed to be easy to understand or easy to navigate.
Founded in 1970, the law firm of Gatti, Keltner, Bienvenu & Montesi, PLC can help you get the workers' compensation benefits you need and deserve. We understand how the system works. We understand the rules and requirements. We know where the pitfalls are and how to avoid them. We encourage you to take advantage of our experience in these matters so that you can focus on recovery and returning to your job.
Workers' compensation provides coverage for medical bills, a portion of your lost wages and other benefits as well. If you have been injured in an on-the-job accident of any type, we can help you. To learn more about the law and what your rights are as an injured worker, call or contact our attorneys for a free consultation.
What Should You Do After a Workplace Accident?
Let's start with the one thing you don't want to do, pretending you're not that hurt and trying to "tough" it out. If you don't go to see a doctor right after the accident, your employer's comp carrier will be able to claim that you weren't injured at all or that you made your own injuries worse by refusing to get medical care. This can derail your claim from the start.
Get medical attention and be sure not to minimize your symptoms or leave any information out. Also, make sure that your supervisor or employer knows about the accident as soon as possible. After you've seen a doctor, be sure to follow through on what they tell you to do in terms of treatment.
In addition to helping you navigate the workers' compensation claims process, our lawyers can also help you apply for and obtain Social Security Disability benefits if your job-related injuries are so severe as to prevent you from working at all in the future.
