With the help of an 8-year-old victim of a hit-and-run accident, investigators located the driver who smashed into the motorcycle on which she was a passenger. The Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to a motor vehicle accident that involved a pickup truck and a motorcycle carrying two people. Troopers said the accident occurred at an intersection in Gibson County.
Accident investigators said a pickup truck struck a motorcycle after running a stop sign. The driver allegedly left the scene of the accident, but, according to the young victim, the driver only left after getting out of the pickup truck and looking at her. This enabled her to describe the driver to investigators. The girl was riding with a neighbor of her grandparents when the accident occurred.
The girl said the motorcycle rider took the brunt of the impact, as he attempted to push her out of the way. He was hospitalized with multiple injuries, including brain trauma and fractured ribs. He is reported to be in a stable condition. The child had to undergo knee surgery but was reportedly due to be released from the hospital soon. By using the descriptions of the driver and the pickup truck, police were able to arrest the alleged driver three days after the accident.

Upon his arrest, the pickup truck driver admitted to hitting the motorcycle, and he is now facing several charges, including aggravated assault.
