Xarelto is a relatively new blood thinner, approved by the FDA in 2011. It was designed to prevent blood clots. The FDA approved Xarelto after a fast-track regulatory review for general treatment of deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. One of the most severe side effects is uncontrollable bleeding – a side effect that has posed serious health threats. Xarelto does not have an antidote and in lawsuits filed by those injured by the drug, users said that they were not sufficiently warned about the drug’s side effects.

Some injuries and complications that lead patients and their families to file lawsuits against Xarelto’s manufacturer are:

  • Death caused by uncontrollable bleeding
  • Intestinal bleeding
  • Rectal bleeding
  • Brain hemorrhaging
  • Stroke
  • Blood transfusion
  • Hospitalized for a bleeding event
  • Anemia
  • Internal bleeding
  • Embolism
  • Blood clots
  • Hemorrhaging

Sometimes, filing a lawsuit is the only way to hold big pharmaceutical companies accountable for making dangerous drugs and to get compensation for financial and emotional loss. Thousands of serious adverse effects, many of which were uncontrollable bleeding, have been linked to Xarelto. Many wrongful death lawsuits have claimed that the defendant (Bayer and Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Xarelto’s manufacturers) concealed important safety information and that Xarelto was not adequately tested before being put on the market.

If you or a loved one has been affected by Xarelto, you may be able to file a case against Bayer and Janssen Pharmaceuticals.
